The South Lakes Ice Hockey Club is off to a great start this season! We have had two competitive games, both ending in ties against the Reston Raider High School team and PVI. Congratulations to Corey Baumgartner for making the NVSHL All Star team! Players are nominated from all the Varsity High School clubs and voted on by the coaches and the board of the NVSHL. Corey Baumgartner was chosen from South Lakes to play on the Norris-Adams team! The All Star game will be held on February 22, 2012 at 5:45 at the Ashburn Ice House. The South Lakes Ice Hockey Club honored 6 seniors and our goalie in a pre-game ceremony on Friday, February 3. The players were presented with their South Lakes Hockey letters by their coaches while guest announcer Shawny Hill (from the Philadelphia Flyers) introduced them. Each player then shared their moment with their parent(s) before the game began. Since the club’s inception in 2009, this is the largest group of seniors we have honored. Danny Hilliard, our goalie, was honored as well. Although Danny is only a Junior, this will be Danny’s last season playing with South Lakes. Congratulations to all of our seniors and to Danny and best of luck to you wherever your future should take you.

South Lakes Ice Hockey Club will be registering as a team in the Reston Raiders Spring High School Leage for the upcoming season. Emails with information and fees will be going out to interested players and goalies the week of January 23rd.
